This project, facilitated by Professor John Toews at UW and inspired by Professor Christopher Newfield from UCSB, is the result of a CHID 390 Junior Colloquium course on how the public university’s mission has inculcated a neoliberal agenda. The projects on this website are works by students from across the University of Washington and from a variety of disciplines. Interested in different facets of the problems facing the public university, these students created projects which allowed them to explore their perceptions of what is happening and what can be done.

The projects have been organized into a rhizome:a network striving for horizontalization, consisting of interconnections without a singular center. More information about the CHID model of rhizomatic learning communities can be found here.
